Potty Training

Potty training is not something I was looking forward to, and I'm still not really looking forward to it now but it seems like it may be easier then I thought (let's hope!). After a couple days of Alex telling me he had to go potty (and then him having a wet/dirty diaper, confirming that he really did have to go) we decided it was time to buy him a little potty. So off to Target we went and bought him a "royal" potty fit for a king! It can be a potty by itself, or the seat comes off and attaches to the adult potty (so they don't fall in!), and it is also a step stool. It also makes a few cheering noises if/when he goes potty in it.

So the day after we assembled it we told him what it was and what it was for to introduce him to it. After his nap we asked if he had to go potty and he said yes! We rushed downstairs and set him on it. After a couple minutes he went! The song played, we clapped and were SOOO surprised, we let him flush it down the big potty, and gave him his most FAVORITE thing in the whole wide world for a treat...a "Cra-KA!" hehe

Since that day we've been asking him and whenever he says yes or if he comes up to us and says he has to go we'll put him on it. No other successes except for today he told me he had to go (even though I knew he had just gone) so I set him on the potty and he went right away!! WOOHOO! So it looks like my lil man is on his way to being potty trained...it's still a long road ahead but perhaps this road won't be AS much of a climb as I was expecting!
